What a weekend to be alive and be a fan of golf. Four days of breath taking golf and at the end another Irishman capturing one of the most coveted trophies on the circuit. Great credit to Rory and also to the Golfing Union of Ireland for providing such excellent training facilities for our young.golfers.Things can only get better

Congratulations to the Duggan Cup team under Roddy Molloy and John Kelly on their victory over Esker Hills. We wish them every success in the next round.

In the Tudenham Cup match bad light stopped play with one match to be completed. This will be played durring the week. With a bit of luck we shall come through.

This week our Seniors and Castlebarna Shield teams take to the fairways.  The Seniors under manager Michael Lyons is: Michael Horan, Billy Donlon, Declan Gath Seamas Breen, Roger Byrne Billy McGarry and Stephen Brumell.

The Castlebarnas under Tom King and Alan Naylor is: Ollie Nolan and Thatd Clancy at home. Away are Christy McGarry, Daryl Lowry and Noel Lyons.  Best of luck to all.

Captain’s Prize to the Members. Mr. Captain Joe Slevin’s Prize to the Ladies took place on next Sunday, 19th June and was a GOY Competition.   Lady Captain Rita Delaney’s Prize to the Men was also be run over the weekend and we thank both Captains for their sponsorship.

A.A. Team News. As promised we hope to keep you up to date on upcoming fixtures in the A.A. Club Matches.  

The Challenge Cup team play the Heritage in Castle Barna on Monday, 20th June at 2.30 p.m. – best of luck girls and to team captain Liz Pardy!  Results next week.

The Junior Foursomes played Abbeyleix in Tullamore last Saturday and with Mary Ryan in charge of this team.  The team of Mary Grennan/Mary Sullivan, Evelyn Lynch/Kathleen Doorley and Annette Kenny/Lady Capt Rita Delaney lost this close encounter with all matches going to either the 17th or 18th to finish. Well done to these girls who put in a huge effort to participate but didn’t pay off this time.
