Birr Golf Club Awarded National Standard

Birr Golf Club is delighted to be one of  32 golf clubs who are the first to be awarded under the new Failte Ireland National Standards Framework which was developed in conjunction with the Golf Quality Assurance Group. These standards are the first of their kind for golf clubs in Ireland.

By choosing our golf course, you can be assured of high standards in facilities and customer services. Introduced by Fáilte Ireland in 2010, Ireland is the first country to undertake a nationwide quality assurance scheme of this type for golf courses. If you’re searching for a golf club that will have great services and facilities for visitors, you’ll be glad to know that Birr Golf Club is quality assured by Fáilte Ireland. It’s an independent assessment of what you can expect to find when choosing a golf course. The scheme is based on the overall quality, but also takes facilities into account.

President’s Mixed

Our presidents Sean Moylan and Mary Grennan are pleased to announce that the very popular Presidents’ Mixed will begin on Monday 21 May at 4.30. The format will be scramble over 9 holes and this is a great opportunity for beginners and established golfers to get in some competive golf for the prestigious prizes on offer over the summer. Ladies’ golf

The Countess of Granard Competition is taking place for the month of May.  Ladies please support.  Arrange and use timesheet.  Also there is an ongoing 9 Hole competition taking place.  See book in locker room re same. 

An 18 Hole Stabelford Competition takes place on Saturday 19th May and Wednesday 23rd May, 2012.  This competition is kindly sponsored by Monaincha Spa in Roscrea.  Use the timesheet on Saturday and usual draws on Wednesday i.e. 9am, 9.45am and 1.45pm, arrange and use timesheet after .30pm. 

Sunday 27th May, 2012 is Mr. Presidents Prize to the Ladies.  Draw for partners will take place on Thursday 24th May at 8pm.  Please sign sheet in locker room to be included. 

The Junior girls are progressing and enjoying ILGU coaching programme with our Professional, Kevin McGrath.  New members are always welcome regardless of age!!

The Presidents Mixed is beginning on Monday 21st May, 2012 at 4.30pm.  Always a good evening of fun!!  This will take place every Monday evening for the duration of the summer months.

Team news. The Junior Foursome team had a good win over Castlecomer last Wednesday in Rathdowney.  The team playing on the day were Mary Grennan, Maura Flanner, Kathleen Doorley, Evelyn Lynch, Rita Delaney and Marie Tooher.  Heres to the next round.

The Finn trophy also had a great win in Rathdowney against Rathdowney on 5t May, 2012.
